G4 Icons: Intellivision

13 04 2014

Hey folks, here is episode 23 of G4’s Icons show spotlighting the Mattel Intellivision. For anyone that doesn’t already know, the Intellivision was the Atari 2600’s main competitor an an over all more powerful machine. Not saying it was better (that’s not for me to say), just more powerful. Not sure how long the video link will last (I didn’t post it), but enjoy it while it lasts.

Had An Awesome Time Hangin’ With My Retro Collector Friends From Colexions.com

7 04 2014

My buddy and fellow Retro Gaming fanatic Corey Buckner has put together a great community of fellow minded collectors over at colexions.com. Well, not only has he put together a great site to show off your own collection and geek out over fellow collectors treasures, he also hosts a monthly “Show And Tell” on Google Hangouts. What it is is a group of us collectors having a great time, showing off our stuff and talking about retro gaming and what ever else might come to mind. This was the third monthly get together and boy did we get to see some amazing stuff. We represented five different countries and three different continents but the distances just made the conversation better. It’s really cool to be able to meet like this. We had Corey Buckner (of course) from just outside Chicago and indie game developer Gary Brafford in West Virginia and lifespiller79 from…um sorry man, Texas (I think), all three in the U.S. of A,  We had Gabo representing Argentina, Mark in the U.K, Paul in Australia and little ol’ me up here in Canada. Everyone pulled out all the stops and showed some real stunners from our collections. Checkout last Saturday’s get together below:

A Fantastic Intellivision Haul…And More!

5 01 2014

I decided to peruse a local online buy and sell site to see if there was any retro treasure to be found… There was! I bagged a boxed, great condition Intellivision, a crap load of great games, the Intellivoice add-on. But that, my fine feathered Internet friends was not all. No indeed, it is not. Included with the Intellivision was the extremely rare Educational Computer System (ECS) add-on, with the also ridiculously rare Music Synthesizer keyboard add-on. Pretty crazy, eh? Well, wait – there’s even more: the guy also threw in an Atari XE computer/console, matching joystick AND light gun, some Atari paddle controllers, a Kraft joystick, and the really cool button controller for Track and Field.

I got this entire haul for a total of $85 Canadian. The ECS and the XE didn’t come with power supplies, but I tested the XE with an existing power supply from the XE I already have and it works great, as does the ECS as I was able to test it using a Nintendo Entertainment System power supply.

Freakin’ awesome!

Hey people of Earth… Hope you are all well.

I just uploaded a little game play video that I recorded of the fantastic port of Wizard of Wor for the Bally Astrocade. This version is titled, The Incredible Wizard, but don’t let the name fool you: this is the best home port of Wizard of Wor.

New Additions to my Collection

8 05 2013

Hey folks… Long time no see.

I just thought I would let you know about some more recent additions to my collection.

I’ve picked up an Intellivision II in the box but without a power supply (if you can help me out with a power supply I’d be much appreciative), at a Flea Market. Also, I was given, free of charge, a fantastic Nintendo Entertainment System, in a collectible Official Carrying bag and a CRAP load of games. AND… I picked up a Sega Genesis with a Sega CD unit in a cool carrying case. Pictures are below!

I found this on a fellow classic gamer’s Youtube Channel, Atarileaf. It’s a history of Hockey video games by a Canadian gamer. Funny stuff and you should watch it!

Another Let’s Compare Video: Popeye

15 02 2013

Alright folks, GamingHistorySource has released another Let’s Compare video, this time for the classic Nintendo game, Popeye. This was an interesting game that was originally released to the arcades in 1982 and soon home versions followed for most of the home systems out there.

Enjoy this comparison video:
