Got me one of those Super Nintendo Classics

18 10 2017

So launch day came for the Super Nintendo Classic Mini and instead of heading out to the local Walmart I managed to sleep in until 7 am, the time it opens. I pretty much forgot about getting one, at least on day one, and instead bought myself a copy of the amazing (and infuriatingly hard), Cuphead. After playing that for a few hours I decided to take a little sanity break and was browsing Facebook when I noticed a post saying Amazon had them in stock. Taking a shot I headed there, hit the one click buy button, and found myself the owner of one of these cool units. And bonus: I paid regular, non douche-bag reseller prices! It took a few days to get here, but shipping was free via Prime.

After having it for over a week now, I have to say that this is a sweet piece of

20171005_122349.jpggaming kit. With twenty-one classic and mostly classic games, it’s not a bad deal for $99 Canadian. That becomes an even better deal if you decide to take the plunge and apply the very easy hack that allows you to add additional games (roms).

Folks, don’t bother paying reseller prices for this device, but if you see it at regular prices (and you probably will – Nintendo says they are making plenty of them), get it, because it’s awesome!

Garage Sale Find: Super Mario 64 110 Film Camera

9 06 2014

Hit a couple of garage sales in the neighbourhood today and managed to pick up this neat little Super Mario 64 110 film camera. While film in general is disappearing, the 110 format went out of vogue somewhere in the mid 90’s. I have no idea as the whether or not it is rare, but I do find it neat. It also came with an unused, expired film cartridge. Check out the poor quality pictures below:

Recent Pick Up: Game Boy Advance And Mortal Kombat 4 For The Game Boy Color

8 04 2014

Went to one of a couple local flea markets here in Calgary last Sunday (April 6, 2014) and grabbed this Game Boy Advance and a copy of Mortal Kombat 4 for the Game Boy Color. Nothing fancy, but I did need an original Game Boy Advance since mine went missing several years ago, and as for the Mortal Kombat 4 cartridge… well, it was included. Got both of them for $20 Canadian.

Had An Awesome Time Hangin’ With My Retro Collector Friends From Colexions.com

7 04 2014

My buddy and fellow Retro Gaming fanatic Corey Buckner has put together a great community of fellow minded collectors over at colexions.com. Well, not only has he put together a great site to show off your own collection and geek out over fellow collectors treasures, he also hosts a monthly “Show And Tell” on Google Hangouts. What it is is a group of us collectors having a great time, showing off our stuff and talking about retro gaming and what ever else might come to mind. This was the third monthly get together and boy did we get to see some amazing stuff. We represented five different countries and three different continents but the distances just made the conversation better. It’s really cool to be able to meet like this. We had Corey Buckner (of course) from just outside Chicago and indie game developer Gary Brafford in West Virginia and lifespiller79 from…um sorry man, Texas (I think), all three in the U.S. of A,  We had Gabo representing Argentina, Mark in the U.K, Paul in Australia and little ol’ me up here in Canada. Everyone pulled out all the stops and showed some real stunners from our collections. Checkout last Saturday’s get together below:
