My buddy and fellow Retro Gaming fanatic Corey Buckner has put together a great community of fellow minded collectors over at colexions.com. Well, not only has he put together a great site to show off your own collection and geek out over fellow collectors treasures, he also hosts a monthly “Show And Tell” on Google Hangouts. What it is is a group of us collectors having a great time, showing off our stuff and talking about retro gaming and what ever else might come to mind. This was the third monthly get together and boy did we get to see some amazing stuff. We represented five different countries and three different continents but the distances just made the conversation better. It’s really cool to be able to meet like this. We had Corey Buckner (of course) from just outside Chicago and indie game developer Gary Brafford in West Virginia and lifespiller79 from…um sorry man, Texas (I think), all three in the U.S. of A, We had Gabo representing Argentina, Mark in the U.K, Paul in Australia and little ol’ me up here in Canada. Everyone pulled out all the stops and showed some real stunners from our collections. Checkout last Saturday’s get together below:

Calgary Pincade Show September 28, 2013
30 09 2013I had an awesome time this weekend at the Calgary Pincade Show. Local pinball and arcade machine owners brought out their machines to all to play. Admission was $15 at the door or $20 for the weekend. Quite a few games were up for sale and they had two pinball machines for raffle. It was an awesome time and I can hardly wait for next year.
Check out The few pictures and video I caught while there:

Another Let’s Play Video Arkanoid
16 06 2013The folks at Gaming History Source posted another great Let’s Compare video for the game Arkanoid.
Arkanoid is fantastic breakout style arcade game that was ported to what seem every system ever made. An exaggeration, of course. Enjoy the video and make sure you subscribe to Gaming History Source’s Youtube channel.

The History Of Hockey Video Games
15 04 2013I found this on a fellow classic gamer’s Youtube Channel, Atarileaf. It’s a history of Hockey video games by a Canadian gamer. Funny stuff and you should watch it!

Classic Atari Games Re-Imagined in HTML5
29 01 2013So there’s a crap load of Atari classic games that have been re-imagined in HTML5 and you can play over at the Atari web site.
Okay, I know that they didn’t need to be reimagined, since there wasn’t anything wrong with the way they were. But for the most part, they play great. You’ll most likely have to look at an ad or two but other than that there are quite a few Atari Classics here for you to play in your browser.
Check ‘em out here:

Colexions.com–A Special Place on the Net for Us: The Crazy Classic Video Game Collectors
29 01 2013Last year sometime I was looking for software that would allow me to catalogue my game and system collection. Using various search word combos in Google I came to the conclusion that there wasn’t such a thing (or at least not one that had all the functions I wanted). That was a bummer. There was an upshot to my search, though: I found the awesome site, colexions.com.
What the heck is colexions.com? It’s a site where fellow classic video gaming collectors can congregate and post our collections and look at other like minded folks collections. If you want to blog about your hobby you can, and if you want to read someone else blogging about it you can do that also. Do you have a game or a system you want to buy? Or maybe something you want to sell? You can do either here. It’s got pretty much everything you need in a classic video game collecting except one single thing. What’s that thing? Before I tell you what it is, I will tell you that you can actually bring that missing piece to the site yourself. That missing piece is just this: The site needs more members for it truly to be as effective as I know it will be.
So I am asking you to do me a favour and go to colexions.com and sign up and post your collection. I get no financial benefit as the site is not mine in any way, shape or form. The benefit I get is that I get to gawk at even more systems and games and toys on a site that is made just for that. If you’re a collector, or even thinking of collecting then I don’t see what you have to lose.
