Another Let’s Play Video Arkanoid

16 06 2013

The folks at Gaming History Source posted another great Let’s Compare video for the game Arkanoid.

Arkanoid is fantastic breakout style arcade game that was ported to what seem every system ever made. An exaggeration, of course. Enjoy the video and make sure you subscribe to Gaming History Source’s Youtube channel.–A Special Place on the Net for Us: The Crazy Classic Video Game Collectors

Last year sometime I was looking for software that would allow me to catalogue my game and system collection. Using various search word combos in Google I came to the conclusion that there wasn’t such a thing (or at least not one that had all the functions I wanted). That was a bummer. There was an upshot to my search, though: I found the awesome site,

What the heck is It’s a site where fellow classic video gamingcolexions collectors can congregate and post our collections and look at other like minded folks collections. If you want to blog about your hobby you can, and if you want to read someone else blogging about it you can do that also. Do you have a game or a system you want to buy? Or maybe something you want to sell? You can do either here. It’s got pretty much everything you need in a classic video game collecting except one single thing. What’s that thing? Before I tell you what it is, I will tell you that you can actually bring that missing piece to the site yourself. That missing piece is just this: The site needs more members for it truly to be as effective as I know it will be.

So I am asking you to do me a favour and go to and sign up and post your collection. I get no financial benefit as the site is not mine in any way, shape or form. The benefit I get is that I get to gawk at even more systems and games and toys on a site that is made just for that. If you’re a collector, or even thinking of collecting then I don’t see what you have to lose.

Play the classic Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy game in your browser

2 05 2009

The kind folks across the pond at the BBC have been kind enough to bring us thehhgtg classic Infocom text adventure, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in a groovy and easy to use flash interface that you play right in your browser.

I first played this game on a friend’s Commodore 64, and later on my little brother’s Atari 600XL. I really enjoyed this game a lot.

If you are familiar with The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy works by Douglas Adams, then I won’t go and describe the characters and scenarios other than it follows the line of the story, from Arthur Dent’s house being bulldozed and the destruction of the Earth to the moment they step out and onto the planet Magrathea. If you aren’t familiar with the works of Douglas Adams, then go buy the recordings of the original BBC radio play, the books (all five of the trilogy), find copies of the TV series on DVD… then play this game. Fans of Adams work, and fans of the classic text adventures should love this.

Mac-Head? Well, not yet…

15 02 2007

Hey all you people that probably don’t exist.

So, last Sunday I did something crazy: I went out and bought a Mac Mini computer.mac mini I’ve been considering purchasing a Mac since they switched over to the Intel platform (and they became capable of running Windows), but just hadn’t made the jump.

How do I like it? I love it. Now, I haven’t gone and dumped my PC for this little machine, nor am I planning to, but I have to say that this machine is a pleasure to work and play on. I like the operating system (OS X Tiger), and the inclusion of the iLife software package is a really nice touch. Also included is a copy of Quickbooks – maybe I’ll try balancing my bank accounts someday!

I think my ultimate goal with this machine will to be integrate it into my home entertainment system. The fact that it has DVI out makes it perfect for cannecting to my big screen tv. Why would I want to do this (you may or may not be asking yourself)? The Mac is great at playing all sorts of different media files, has good wireless network access and iTunes was made for it. It can also be used as a pretty good game system to. Though not as many as the Windows platform, there is a great selection of games for the Mac (Halo anyone?). Add emulation of arcade and classic console games to the mix and you have more than enough reasons to justify the purchase price ! 🙂 This is a Multi-Media power house (well, at least when compared to most commercially available network connected multimedia devices) in a case not much bigger that five cd cases laying flat on top of each other… That’s why!

I’ll keep you posted on this!
